Rather than there being a digital divide between people who benefit with technology and those who don't, there is a digital divide with those who don't have access to computers and internet and those who do. Dr.Sugata Mitra, a computer scientist, wanted poor children in India to be provided with access to computers and the internet. He provided a computer with internet in a poor neighborhood to see how children would react. The kids learned fast how to use it and its purpose. He gave children living in poor areas in India an opportunity to master a technology that others have been mastered in for a while. Adding more computers to these neighborhoods may provide jobs and give students better opportunities and be more exposed to the world.
